This Special Interest Group is for anyone who is interested in somatic practice and is interested in: learning more and expanding their knowledge about somatic practice, case consults, networking and making connections with like-minded practitioners. You must be a chapter member to participate; sign up here.

The Somatic Practices Group has four fundamental purposes: social engagement and community building, skill building, case consultation, and community education.

SFV CAMFT Somatic SIG Goals and Purpose:
1.  To build community among MFTs who engage in somatic oriented practices through social engagement.
2.  To share our knowledge of somatic practices and enhance and develop our skillfulness as somatic practitioners;
3.  To develop peer consultation groups to discuss challenging cases;
4.  To educate the broader MFT community regarding somatic practices.

Here are initial ideas about the creation of this group:

1.  Send a SFV CAMFT wide call to participate in the founding meeting at which we would adopt a provisional SIG structure, and set a calendar of meeting dates;
2.  Build our social ties while forming our agenda;
3.  Explore our shared resources so we can build a common base to operate from;
4.  Sponsor talks, discussion groups, brown-bags luncheons, case consultations, and other relevant activities to enhance our knowledge and skillfulness;
5.  Develop materials and a speakers bureau to educate the broader community;
6.  Develop an introduction to somatic practices program.
