   Janet K. Smith, PhD


Dr. Smith will portray and discuss three personality disorders, identifying their 
and organizing principles. 


Using vignettes and role-playing, Dr. Smith will engage participants to explore thoughts, feelings, interpersonal relationships and countertransferences that are evoked by working with personality disorders.


Dr. Smith will address the following in her presentation: * How diagnosis can be utilized to maximize contact         with clients and minimize flight from    treatment
*How understanding personality disorders can help align   expectations of treatment length   with a reality based   treatment outcome.

Dr. Janet K. Smith is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
