Dr. Elisha Goldstein will lead participants in a discussion about the prevalent use of medication to treat depression and he will identify more holistic ways to nurture a resilient, anti-depressant brain by integrating mindfulness, self-compassion, play and meaning into a client's treatment plan.


Learning Objectives

· Break the depression loop

· Understand & apply key mindfulness and self-compassion practices for handling challenging situations and when becoming emotionally triggered by a client

· Loosen the "stuckness" in depressed clients with specific techniques that enliven purpose and play

· Apply a key learning mindset to catalyze neural growth


Elisha Goldstein, PhD, is a psychologist and author of Uncovering Happiness: Overcoming Depression with Mindfulness and Self-compassion, The Now Effect, and co-author of A Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Workbook. He is co-founder of The Mindful Living Center: Change Through Mindfulness, Psychotherapy and Integrative Medicine in Los Angeles.
