"Opioids and The Opioid Crisis: What Therapists Need to Know in 2018 and in the Future"
with Karen Rubenstein, MA, LMFT

This course is designed to help psychotherapists working with clients struggling with opioid dependency to understand the signs and symptoms of the addiction. The ultimate goal is to provide the best suited treatment plan and assess the client's severity of dependency. Assessing the clients stage of change provides the therapist and client with a road map to address their addiction. We will look specifically at the ways to work with clients using the stages of changes and different interventions that can be used to raise awareness and willingness to continue treatment.

Learning Objectives
In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify opioid dependency.
  2. Discuss what type of intervention to use with a client who is dependent on opiates.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to use your assessment skills to create an individualized treatment plan.
  4. Critically evaluate the client based on their level of dependency and formulate what approach will best suit the client's needs.
