"Proprioceptive Writing: A Powerful Process for Therapists and Clients"

Proprioceptive (Introspective) Writing is a seemingly simple but very powerful process for self-exploration and sharing. The presenter learned this process in 1989 and has shared informal workshops on the topic many dozens of times since then. The process can be incorporated for personal use or for work with clients or therapy groups. All materials provided, or bring your own journal, if you prefer.

SIG Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe 3 aspects of the introspective writing process called Proprioceptive Writing.
  2. Distinguish between this process and other writing approaches (journaling and stream of consciousness).
  3. Explain the purpose of specific components in this process (candle, type of music, sharing) that make it unique.
