"Time Management For Individuals

With ADHD And Other Executive Functioning Disorders"

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a psychological disorder that is associated with chronic functional impairment across the lifespan. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches for this disorder along with specific strategies used to target task initiation suggest that these approaches are promising in producing significant symptom reduction. Coaching, which is a behavior change approach that is based on CBT principles, has been shown to be an effective treatment to help both adolescents and adults suffering from ADHD. This workshop demonstrates how time management and productivity-based strategies, when coupled with coaching, can help individuals with ADHD overcome daily challenges with meeting obligations and responsibilities at school, work, and in their personal lives.

Participants will learn how ADHD symptomology results in significant daily functional impairment at different life stages; will acquire a framework for how individuals with ADHD can increase task initiation and follow through; and will learn how CBT-based coaching principles along with specific strategies can help individuals with ADHD improve time management and productivity.

Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply 2 methods of accountability to help individuals with ADHD follow through on task completion.
  2. Give examples of 2 methods that utilize changing the environment to increase task initiation.
  3. Describe how a CBT approach can help individuals with ADHD change negative patterns of thinking as well as recognize the progress they are making.

Presenter:

Eran Grayson, MA, ACC is an educational therapist and executive functioning coach in private practice and specializes in treating executive functioning deficits in high school and college students as well as adult professionals.
