Annual "New Beginnings" Experiential Meeting

with Monica A. Garcia, MA

Note:  Presented In-person ONLY.

"Ancestral Healing Practices: Reciprocity & Compassion with Nature’s Elements"

Join us in bringing in the new year with our

Annual "New Beginnings" Experiential event.

Sunday, January 21, 2024

In this workshop, clinicians will gain an understanding of Ancestral healing.  Ancestral healing is the process of healing the trauma, patterns, and beliefs that are inherited or received from one's family lineage. It can bring personal and collective benefits such as emotional healing, ending negative cycles, accessing wisdom and support, and feeling more connected and grounded. It can also affect the well-being of future generations and the world. Ancestral healing can be done by relating directly with one's ancestors or working with a healed ancestor from one's line. This training will serve as a solid foundation for understanding ourselves and our inherited trauma, and will also complement and support your current clinical healing services to clients.

Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:.

  1. Identify 2 ways that ancestral/indigenous healing can support current health & wellness.
  2. Identify 3 natural elements used in ancestral healing practices and how they are used.
  3. List and explain how you could use at least 2 of the art exercises / interventions with clients.

Presenter:

Monica Amelia Garcia, MA is a direct descendant of the Zapotec and Mayan people. She was raised through indigenous practices and healing by her Zapotec Mother and most recently through her Mayan spiritual guide. During her four years as A Window Between Worlds facilitator, Monica has facilitated mental health workshops in the community of South Los Angeles. Monica’s personal journey in remembering her layered identity informs her current training as an MFT graduate and an ancestral healing practitioner. Monica is dedicated to taking an innovative approach to preventive mental wellness through a social justice lens, while incorporating holistic and ancestral healing.
