A committee comprised of the Vice President of Programs and one to two members chosen by the Diversity Committee, and one to two other chapter members (including Board Members), who are not submitting applications to be a presenter at Membership Meetings, will be formed.

The Vice President of Programs will serve as chair for the member speaker selection committee, and will provide committee members with a list of the previous two years presenters and topics with the goal of increasing diversity in presenters and presentations.  The Vice President of Programs will submit to the chapter President, Past President, and President Elect a complete list of committee members, and the list of chapter members submitting an application to present and their topic. After the committee has made a final decision on presenters and topics the Vice President of Programs will inform the board of directors prior to announcement to the chapter membership.

At the committee’s discretion, and to best fit member needs, up to two chapter members may be selected each calendar year to serve as the main speaker at a regular, monthly chapter meeting. Interested chapter members must adhere to the application process and will be selected by the committee.

The Committee will submit a call for proposals at least 6 (six) months in advance of the meetings.

Applicants must submit as part of their application:

  • Title and description of presentation (about 200 words) including bullet points of interest and emphasis (possible learning objectives).
  • At least 3 references for the presentation.
  •  A biography (about 200 words) including any presentations, articles or books authored by the presenter.
  •  Resume or CV of applicant
  •  Photo of applicant
  •  Submit a short video, (2-4 minutes speaking on a topic- no audience needed). This can be video shot on a smart phone.
  • Presentations may have a multimedia component and are requested to describe the use of these mediums in the application.

Past chapter involvement, contributions to the chapter, and membership duration of the chapter are not to be criteria that factor into the decision of selecting a member as a speaker.
